Winter Wonderland

You know you live in Manitoba when...

Last week we were raking the lawn, wearing shorts, getting sunburnt, and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!
Today we are...

Enjoying a winter wonderland! But we're not complaining, the moisture is very welcome.

Shotgun

This post will be a different than usual, but hey, it might give you some insight into our lives that you weren't aware of! We are a family who loves the country, the ranchy life style, and with that comes country style music. As most of you know, I love southern gospel, and a lot of sg has country flare to it. But it is hard to find country music that has clean lyrics, but when you do find the odd song, we like how it tells a story and how the story often relates to our lives, past or present. Raquel enjoys Paul Brandt music and so we got her his new cd "Risk" for Christmas. The first song on the cd is called "Didn't even see the dust", which was one of the 20 most played country music songs in Canada in 2007. This song relates to our family, you see when we head out the door to go somewhere, you will hear someone yell "I call shotgun", and within a nano second you will hear "I call shotgun way home", and because we have 3 kids, someone is always left out! (If Mom & Dad both go, Mom always gets shotgun:) Normally you will hear this when the kids are headed out for a ride with their dad in the truck, but it's starting to happen when they come with me in the van. So much of this song describes us and how we like to hit the open road from time to time.

shot gun everybody getting for the long run
dont know where we're going
but the out come comes with a little bit of trust
lets go following whatever where the wind blows
flying with our hands out of the window
we didnt even see the dust

see how far we get
driving straight ahead
getting lost didnt seem to matter much
all we had was time and a yellow line
looking back we didnt even see the dust

chorus: shot gun everybody getting for the long run
dont know where we're going
but the out come comes with a little bit of trust
lets go following whatever where the wind blows
flying with our hands out of the window
we didnt even see the dust

ohhhh yeah
didnt even see it

we had ups and downs
we got spun around
we held on when the going got a little tough
it took love and faith
and some give and take
and grace
no we didnt even see the dust

shot gun everybody getting for the

chorus: shot gun everybody getting for the long run
dont know where we're going
but the out come comes with a little bit of trust (ohhhhh)
lets go following whatever where the wind blows
flying with our hands out of the window
we didnt even see the dust

come on now!

lets go following whatever where the wind blows
flying with our hands out of the window
we didnt even see the dust

Garage Sale

If you like going out and looking for treasures, I encourage you to find your way to my parents place on Saturday, May 3rd. Mom, Kim & I are cleaning house!

SPRING BREAK

I know. Spring Break was weeks ago, but it's finally a rainy day to catch up on odd jobs! We had a quiet spring break at home this year. Henry was not able to take time off from work because they were short staffed in the office. So it was me and the kids looking for things to do. We got most of the spring cleaning done, spent a day in Portage spending hard earned money, the kids spent some time at "mama's" while I cleaned Grandma's apartment, and for their good behaviour all week, I took them to Brandon on Friday to see "Horton Hears A Who".
Believe it or not, the kids thought this was a blast! And so did I! They made the mess and cleaned the cupboards, and I got to organize everything again, and we had it done in half the time!

One of my favorite features in my house is my pantry! I also took this picture to remind ourselves of how very blessed we are!

Tree Climbers

First of all, sorry to my friends on dial up, I'm not sure if you will be able to open this. I thought I'd be smart and update the blog from a high speed location, but I can't figure out how to down size my pictures. The kids latest thing is climbing trees. Thought I'd post a few of their adventures!

Raquel likes the tree in the front yard, she wishes it had a few more limbs.

Sometimes tree climbers don't stay where they had planned to sit! Have to take a picture of the tears as well!

And sometimes tree climbers get stuck!

These tree climbers were gracious enough to pose for a group picture! LOL...
