Summer Beauty

Ecclesiates 3:11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time..." This morning (Friday) was beautiful outside. It cooled down to around 10C last night, and it feels great to have the windows open. The forecast is for low to upper thirties for the next five days. I'm so thankful for air conditioning! The next couple of pictures are of my flowers. I love this time of year when everything is in full bloom.

My tomatoes are HUGE this year. I tried something new this year, I bought tomato fertilizer spikes. I think they work :) This is one plant you see and it looks like we should be able to enjoy fresh tomatoes shortly!

Friday, July 20th

Another two weeks have come and gone! We spent 8 days at Spruce Woods. Henry dropped us off Sunday evening, and joined us again Thursday evening. I camped with my SIL & Mom. On the weekend we camped with Tim & Janet. We really had a good time! This past week we caught up on the hoeing, mowing, and laundry. Today at lunch we leave for Wellman Lake to spend the weekend with Henry's family. I think this is one of the first times that I have been ready to go before it's time! I even have my food pre made for Sunday night meal. It sounds like a great weekend weather wise. Above are two picutres from our last trip. Raquel spent a lot of time looking after Rayleen and they became best friends (cousins). It never failed, when Rayleen saw Raquel she would start to babble and smile. It's fun to watch the oldest & youngest cousin connect! The bike trails in Spruce Woods are awesome! Jeziah did great except where the trail was to narrow for the training wheels. I found out pushing two bikes can be a real workout as well! Dexter did some long trails on the weekend with Henry. We found out he has great endurance!

Saturday July 7th

Finally! I took some time this morning to catch up the blog. Hope you enjoy! Today I need to finish cleaning the house, mainly bathrooms, and then we're off to a wedding this afternoon. Looking forward to the change of pace! Then I have to finish packing up the camper and the kids and I are off to the campground for the week! Have a super weekend and we'll talk again soon!

Our God is an Awesome God!

Another thunderstorm on July 4th. We only got a few drops of rain as the storm was more north of us, but it made for some good photo opportunities. The clouds were amazing!

Happy Birthday Baby J!

Well, my baby is hardly a baby anymore. One of his nicknames is "Baby J", I think it will now have to be Cowboy J! We celebrated Jeziah's 4th birthday at the campground last weekend. He wanted a cowboy hat & cowboy boots for his birthday. His wishes came true! He loves playing cowboy! (p.s. his hat is on backwards, so it looks a little strange)

Proud to be CANADIAN!

We are so BLESSED! Canada is a great country to live in, eh?!

Storm #2 - June 23

Saturday, June 23 we had another storm come through our yard. We have reasons to believe that it was a small twister that took down our trees this time. There was five that came down at the same time in front of the house, and two more trees that had branches twisted from them. When the trees came down, they hit the eavestrough on the veranda. The two wicker chairs placed on the front veranda (see one of my first pictures) flew to the field behind the house. One chair was stopped by an evergreen, the other ended up in the alfalfa field. They did not tumble because they only had dirt on them where they landed. We were at home at the time, but had no idea how severe it had been until it was all over. At that time, we hadn't even been aware of the tornado that had gone through Elie the night before. Needless to say, the next two nights when thunderstorms hit, we were pacing the floor trying to decide if we needed to seek refuge in the basement. We thank God that He protected us especially because we were a little naive in knowing how severe the storms have been. In total we lost 9 trees that night. It makes for a lot of clean up!

This big tree gave shade for the sandbox. It uprooted at the same time as the others came down. I guess we had built the sandbox over the roots!

A close up of the mess in the front yard.

Barn Update

This is how the barn has looked for the last while and will probably continue to look until the contractor shows up. Those are the loft walls you see. If the wall facing you looks like it's leaning, well, you're right. More about a vicious storm that hit us in the days to follow...
