Updates!

Yeah, I know, it's been a while! The last couple of weeks have been hectic. This week was better, but I've spent all week catching up and working ahead because the next couple of weeks will be nuts again. Sorry, no update on the barn, maybe after the weekend. Maybe being the key word here. Only three more days of school left!!!! We are all very excited! And then the camping fun begins! I'll try to keep up with posting about our excting summer ! :) Have a super weekend everyone!

All together now..."awww..."

My very cute niece Rayleen who is three months old.
Jeziah loves girls, it doesn't matter if they're his cousins or friends! Yes, somedays it concerns us, but he can't help it that the girls are overtaking the area! Here he is posing with cousin Hailey.

June 12th Storm

Tuesday, June 12th we woke up at 4:30 a.m. to a severe thunderstorm. We got the kids up and took them down to the main floor. It was hard to tell what was going out there and better safe than sorry. All was okay. At supper that night it started clouding over again. Below are a few of the pictures I took.

The calm before the storm. We started noticing strange cloud formations. I went out on the south veranda to take some pictures. It was totally calm. Take note of the tree in the right hand corner.

Two minutes later and it was starting to feel eery and then one of the toys started driving across the yard. It was time to get inside! The wind was wicked in a matter of minutes.

I snapped this out of my kitchen window at the height of the storm. Remember that tree in the right hand corner? Well, it no longer exists. I was disappointed because this tree gave shade for my kitchen windows and I was planning my patio around this tree. I suppose better now than when all the landscaping was in place. This is about 15 minutes after the storm, same shot as the first picture. We lost a couple of trees, the tips of two evergreens, and many branches. Reports are that 4 tornados were spotted in the MacGregor area. Did we experience one? I'm not sure, but it must have been very close. Huge trees were lost across the road as well. It gives me new understanding to those who experience devastation like this but on a greater magnitude. I mourn my favorite tree, but I have so much more to be thankful for. One thing I am grateful for is that Henry was still in the house, not up on the barn or somewhere down the road on his jog.

One of those weekends!

It was one of those weekends around here where you wished you'd stayed in bed! We have three school kids helping us out with the building and yard work. We had one fall from a ladder, but was spared any harm. We had another one break his arm while playing around on the trampoline. Unfortunately, he may not be of much use for the next couple of months, but we're hoping he can still spend time with us "on the farm". We pray daily for protection while they work, and we know God has been faithful.

Otherwise, it was a beautiful weekend weather wise. And right now I need to get back outside to hoe the weeds. Have a great week!

Barn Update

Slowly, but surely, we are making progress. The joists are for the loft floor. What we don't get done by the end of this month, we might hire a contractor to finish. Anyone looking for a job?

Timber!

We had a huge tree by our garden shed that had been dead for a couple of years. Friday night we tackled the project of cutting it down. We are planning to plant a new tree close by and give the garden shed a face lift this summer.

Waiting for the action and looking a little bored in the meantime!

Half the tree had been cut down at this point. We weren't sure which way this one would fall, so we tied it to the tractor and pulled it towards the west, hoping it would actually fall that way.

On the way down!

"Job well done boys!"
